Voices of Dementia

When I was first diagnosed with Lewy Body Disease (LBD) over 13 years ago, I was confused and concerned since I knew nothing about this disease. But after time I developed an interest in cognitive issues and learned more through reading, lectures, support group interaction and meeting with doctors and scientists. 

What I gained has enabled me to share my “lived experience” as a person living with a cognitive issue – LBD – experiencing dementia.

Barry Kaufman has been living with Lewy body disease (LBD) for the past 13 years. He retired from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and is an active participant in LBD research and support groups. He serves on the Steering Committee of the Michigan Dementia Coalition and is a member of the National Council of Dementia Minds.
